The 6th Convocation of Jamia Islamia Minhaj-ul-Quran held

The sixth convocation of Jamia Islamia Minhaj-ul-Quran was held here at Aiwan-e-Iqbal in which the position-holding students were given gold medals in recognition of their educational performance.

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri congratulated the teachers on their hard work and the students on their academic achievement and said that guiding the people is binding on the scholars. He said that instead of being carried away by emotions, the religious scholars should save the people from the precipice. He said that productive knowledge saves one from immorality, extremism and radicalism. He however added in the same breath that knowledge without action is defective.

Chairman MQI Supreme Council Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri presided over the Convocation, whereas former President of Al-Azhar University Dr Ibrahim Salih al-Sayyid Sulayman al-Hudhud and Prof. Ahmad Mahmood Hassan Sharif (al-Azhar Mosque, Egypt) were the guests of honour on the occasion.

In their speeches, both the Egyptian scholars extended their felicitations to the students on achieving a milestone in their academic journey. They also lauded the role of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri in the field of education.

Deputy Chairman, BoG, Minhaj University Lahore, Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Chief Justice Shariat Court Dr Sayyid Anwar Shah, VC Minhaj University Lahore Dr Sajid Mahmood Shahzad, Dr Mumtaz-ul-Hassan Barvi, Prof Muhammad Nawaz Zafar, Mufti Abdul Qayyum Hazarvi, Dr Muhammad Akram Rana, Dr Mumtaz Ahmad Sadeedi, Dr Shafaqat Ali Baghdadi, Dr Faizullah Baghdadi, Dr Masood Ahmad, Dr Zohair Ahmad Siddiqui, Dewan Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din, Barrister Amir Hassan, M.H. Shaheen Advocate, Naheed Gul, Saifullah, Usman Ahmad, educationists, political leaders and local notables attended the Convocation.

In his address, Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that a life of ease and comfort and the acquisition of knowledge cannot be together at one place. He said that one has to devote oneself to gain productive knowledge. He said that the legacy of knowledge is far superior to the inheritance of gold and silver. He said that the Imams and Hadith scholars suffered many hardships in the process of acquiring knowledge, adding that it is due to these hardships that the light of knowledge has reached us.

Chief Justice Shariat Court Dr Sayyid Anwar Shah said in his speech that he is happy that the leadership of Minhaj-ul-Quran International is in the hands of an educated leader in the person of Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri. He said that the services rendered by Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Tahair-ul-Qadri for Islam, Pakistan and humanity need no introduction.

Deputy Chairman, Board of Governors of MUL, Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri thanked former President of Al-Azhar University Dr Ibrahim Salih al-Sayyid Sulayman al-Hudhud and Prof. Ahmad Mahmood Hassan Sharif for their participation in the Convocation. He congratulated the teachers, staff members and the Principal Jamia Islamia Minhaj-ul-Quran for their dedication, commitment and performance.

The shields were given away to Secretary General MQI Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Naib Nazima Aalas, Directors of the various departments and other leaders.
